Oh, history...
Through pious pledge to Valikorlia and death-sent mission of Trent Harbinger, Aeolus Arrannon died at the claws of a black dragon some three years before the flood. A member of the Knights of the Silverglade with Caithiris Loneshire and Oruriel Tannelith, his soul was saved by Dearuhk's divine grace (or perhaps humor in pulling another of Setengar's chosen from his grasp), Aeolus rose an undead Blackguard in Her service. He was awarded the unholy blade, Epitaph, after recruiting the other clerics Oruriel and Caithiris to her fold.
Escaping the flood by means of a portal to the Everdark, Aeolus was driven mad for a number of years. Constantly consuming a symbiote which would escape from his wrotten body, he began to speak in lymeric and fled to Frost. Making his way there some years after Rastance Kendon raised it from the depths with the help of devoted soldiers of Valikorlia, he met his original end at the hands of Talen Emberfall and his Abyssal Blade -- ending him for what was originally thought to be all time. However, through The Salesman's workings in rewriting history, the events leading to Aeolus' death did not occur.
