Summary

Aluka Pengadd was born into nobility, and in life, she knew nothing more than the luxury of being born at the top of the food chain. She spent her days attending lavish balls and being waited on hand and foot. She had no qualms with commanding her servants to meet her every need, no matter the extent of the demand. It gave her a sick joy to watch them struggle and strain to fill her request. Who cared about them, so long as it was all about her? In death, she was no different.

Aluka did have one care above herself. His name was Jezen Selaerwind. The two had met at one of the balls she had attended, and the attraction was instantaneous. They fell in love, and Aluka eventually accepted his marriage proposal.

The wedding never happened, however. Jezen was killed in battle, leaving Aluka alone in his home and with his possessions. She went about life in a very dark state. Her care for life, others and her own, disappeared, and as a result of such, ran into a rather shady fellow while walking the streets of Valikorlia alone at night. He was a vampire, a hungry one at that, and Aluka made a perfect snack. In her state, the attack left her too weak to carry on. Rather than simply leave her to die, the vampire embraced her. He didn't stick around, though. He left Aluka alone to fend for herself with her newfound 'gift'.

Casistan Aelmur and Aluka met by chance and from that moment on, were nearly inseparable. Aluka went half-mad with longing for her slain lover, only to be cared for by Casistan. Casistan vowed never to leave her side, and Aluka made sure that he made due on his promise by turning him into a vampire. For many years, the two were partners in crime. They created a powerbase together, and a large kiss of vampires.

The two loved each other as deeply as one being could love another, though both had multiple partners. They gave the illusion of being companions in front of the other vampires, but only in the shadows were they truly lovers.

Casistan was always Aluka's warrior. She was brought up to not lift a finger, and in death she intended to just that. Casistan carried out her sentences and did her dirty work, or set those below him on the path to do it. Regardless if it was by his hand or not, most of the twisted methods of torture and murder were the product of Aluka's mind. All of the weaker vampires in the kiss, and even some of the stronger ones, agreed; Casistan was a horrible, horrible man to cross, but crossing Aluka was asking for a promise of death.

One of the very few disagreements and (frequent) quarrels the two had was over Casistan's human servant, Pamina Calidon. At first, it was not a large matter. Casistan took a liking to her, raising her as if she were one of his own. She repaid him by dealing with both Aluka and Casistan's clients in some of their more underhanded deeds. When Casistan took a deeper interest in her, however, Aluka became jealous, enraged. Oddly enough, she saw Pamina as a threat to her power, and their kiss. She ordered Casistan to savagely beat Pamina, and take advantage of her. Never one to disobey her, Casistan carried out her orders.

Apparently, a little to well. The attack left Pamina hanging on to life by a mere thread. Rather than letting her die, Casistan embraced her, much to Aluka's dismay. The beatings, torture, and rape continued to take place for years, most ordered by Aluka's hand, other instances merely a game for Casistan's sick pleasure. The events left Pamina absolutely terrified of both of the vampires.

Despite her newfound purpose, and Casistan's tender care, Aluka's mind continued to deteriorate. More often than not, she was found unsure of where she was, or speaking nonsensically. Her memory, however, remained intact, and the manic, spacey episodes came and went. She remained in the head seat of power, still dictating every action for Casistan and her other lieutenants to carry out, albeit in a more cryptic manner than the norm.
