Origin and Story

Ami Minase has lived in several countries, and does not care (or, more realistically, does not REMEMBER) the country and town of her origin. As far as she's concerned, she has no brothers or sisters, and her parents are dead.

Her earliest memory is man...a man she knew by the name of Kaiden.

What she remembered was his gentle embrace, when it was snowing. A five-year old girl, Ami assumed of herself, looked up in the arms of a hooded man, his tattered cloak covering her, and his ice cold finger-tips which covered her shoulders with a light, feathery touch. He took her to a warm, yet also strangely cold and lonely cabin, where a single fire illuminated the room...barely. He spoke not a word to her, covered her in blankets in a bed, and left for what seemed like hours. She finally fell asleep.

She woke to the smell of porridge, which she ate ravenously at the first sight of it; she did not care about manners. She was startled by a chuckle, by the strange man, and dropped the empty bowl on the wooden floor, breaking it. The man then scowled and caught the collar of her rags with a little more than mere arritance. "Don't. Ever. Waste." He threw her on the floor. Realizing her situation, with the strange man, and the strange place she did not know, she began to scream. Immediately, he covered her mouth with a gloved hand until she stopped resisting, her eyes wide open. "You do realize the only reason you're alive is because of me?" he spoke as if it a statement, with cool, gray eyes. She shook her head no, afraid to speak. "Your parents are dead...in the fire." he spoke simply, releasing her. "You would have died too, if I had not carried you away." She looked at him with confusion. "Pawents?" she asked tentatively.

He looked at her. "Do you remember them?" She tried to remember. Nothing. "No, sir." she replied respectfully. His eyes softened. "Well," he spoke calmly. "I'm going to take care of you now. You may call me Kaiden. Your name...is Ami...short for Amina. Peace, and security, is what you need most right now."

Over the next few years, living with him was the same, routine. In the morning when she woke, he would not be there. She was forced to catch her own food, snow rabbits, in the forest, for breakfast and lunch. She had to learn by herself. At night, when he came, he would teach her how to use daggers. To cut, and slit, and get her own way.

One time, when she used her daggers against him to get him to stay with her, he merely laughed and easily disarmed her, his eyes amused. "You have a lot to learn."

The only person she ever trusted was Kaiden. Every day he would bring something to her - something shiny, an expensive toy. She learned to be careful. If she ever made one scratch on the things he brought home, she would taste the full effect of his back hand. But he had his soft sides too. He would tell her stories of faraway places, tell jokes, play with her. His smile was what she wanted to see most every night.

However, she was disciplined. Day after day, she grew stronger, wiser, more clever, more skilled. And that night, Kaiden said he was satisfied with her training.

And one day, he never came back. She woke up in the morning as always, caught her game as always, but at night he did not come. She waited for him during the night, but fell asleep. The next day was the same. And so was the next, and the day after. And finally, she decided to look for him. She ran through the forest, calling his name, feeling emotionally and physically weaker by the second. She ran into the town square, and saw...him. He was being led to a platform...a single rope with a loop above it. He was going to get hanged!!

She sped through the streets, trying to catch his attention. The anouncer spoke loudly, his voice trembling with pleasure, the words of the scroll in his hand. "Kaiden Minase will be hung for the following crimes: TREASON, THIEVING, and...attempting to murder His Majesty." He then looked at the audience. "This thief has eluded us for so long!! This lowly figure has disgraced us for the last time! For his crimes, he shall now DIE!!" Kaiden noticed her now. "Any last words? Thief?" smirked the anouncer.

Kaiden was smirking as well. "Thieves...are honorable. We have morals. Goals. Unlike the corrupt government." He looked at Ami, then looked down, though not in submission, but in respect to an unknown force. "In the name of Ryvves." Then it was over.

That was the event that changed her life forever. The one that closed her heart forever.

Personality

Since the accident, all she remembers is living off the kindness of others, and stealing from rich and keeping it to herself. Over the years, she has gained an impressive amount of skill in stealth and trickery. Grown to be selfish, aggresive, and mutually unkind to all has led her to virtually no friends - but it doesn't matter to her. According to her, She needs no friends.
