Background
Birth 1BF
Anung Niu Ramsa was born just outside of Ganelon, from the wife of the woodsmith Faxon Shields, after a long and pained labor. Faxon delivered his new baby son into the world, any sign of excitement was drained from his face and replaced with horror for what he held in his hands. Lahela Sields, begged to see the child for herself but Faxon denied her as he racked his mind with maddening questions and prayer, only giving her the babe when he had run off to collect the tools for his plan. Delirious with fever she wept at the supposed beauty of her child and died before Faxon came back with the lamp oil seconds later. Sparing no time to grieve he went about drenching everything in his sight and lighting it ablaze. As the house crackled and burned around him, he picked up the child in one arm and set fire to his dead wife with the other. Placing the newborn on a stool, he proceeded to drench himself in the lamp oil as well, saying only, "We need to be purified of your daemon blood. The fire will purify Lahela and I. You, my spawn, may not have that luxury. I will try to save you as well I can." It was around this time Father Corbin, a priest of Wol, was passing by as smoke filled the sky. He ran towards where the grey cloud was stemming from and came across the burning house. Calling out for any survivors, he rushed towards and through the front door, sending flames and splinters in the air. Corbin's mouth fell open, eyes widened, as he struggled to make sense of what he was looking at. Faxon, now a fireball of a man, screaming at the top of his lungs; holding his child's head in one hand, a knife in the other pressed into it's forehead. Instinctively the Father rushed Faxon with his blade, killing him instantly, snatched the baby into his arms, and leapt out the nearest window to safety. Corbin ran as far from the smouldering cabin as his legs could take him before collapsing to the ground exhausted. When he finally looked at the baby, he understood why the man must have panicked so. He held a crimson Tiefling infant in his arms, one horn cut crudely off. Upon seeing the child, he couldn't believe it to be responsible, no matter the birth, for such horrors as he saw. At that very moment Father Corbin changed his worship to that of the Goddess Lo. As for the baby, he chose a God to set him on a path that was straight and just, Saurvold.
Youth and Ascension
Corbin raised the infant as his own, naming him Anung Niu Ramsa, "Right Hand of Justice". When Anung came of age, Corbin decided to tell him of his birth, and how he came to be. After hearing the tale, Anung swore then and there to protect the innocent and bring justice to those who need it, no matter the consequence. It was then that Father Corbin thought it right to teach him the way of the blade, and how it could be used as a tool of righteous vengeance, taught him to be a slayer of evil men. Anung became a force of just cause, stalking only in night and under Corbin's direct council, instructed to bring fear to those who would cause harm, and death to others who would rape and murder. After the Viith-Sos War; Saurvold took note of these noble deeds, the hardship Anung faced in doing them, (as a cursed spawn) and came to him in a dream. In the dream, Saurvold's form was of a blazing empty fire that swept across the countryside, engulfing everything within it, yet save innocent life. No woman, child, lowly farmer, nor sincere noble was harmed. Murderers, rapists, thieves, corrupt royalty, and vile demons of evil myth; were all scorched from the surface of the plane. Anung woke that day with a sense of purpose, the fires of Saurvold burned within his very soul. He would become a sword for his God, culling the land of the evils that men or beast do.
When Ganelon was destroyed in an assault by Dalamar in the Imperial War, Anung, distraught and searching for Father Corbin, left for the nearest battlefield to enact his burning vengeance. This would take him west, toward Windulspur.
