The forest of Asca Dágnir was the site of the ancient Kingdom of the Wood Elves for millennia. The Wood Elves were the first tribe of the elves to leave the great island of Alkor. The world was still young and restless in those days, and the elves migrated to a great wood which stretched for miles in every direction, where the trees were wild and ruthless and the forest filled with energy. It was here that the Wood Elves founded their realm, Asca Dágnir.

History
The First Ascan King
The first Elfking of the Forest was Elrendíl White-Spear. He and his host erected mighty halls in the grand trees themselves, and it was he who shaped the Ascan society to what it eventually became: that the elves were rooted fixedly in the old spirits of nature itself. The halls of Elrendíl stood for as long as the civilization of Asca Dágnir endured, and the very trees grew from their walls. It is for the mighty king that the inhabitants of Asca Dágnir were called: Elrevail (Elrevâl in the singular). It was during the 700 year reign of Elrendíl White-Spear that most of the events that would later make up elven myth, lore, and mysticism--including the elves' immunity to disease, thanks to the Two Fair Maidens.
The Birth of Man
Unlike their Alkorian cousins, the Elrevail were troubled at the appearance of man on the world. They therefore stayed closed in their deep forests, and kept themselves secluded from the reckless and dangerous men. It wasn't until a thousand years after the birth of man, when the mighty kingdom of Valikorlia was founded, that the Elrevail finally interacted peacefully with the humans. Even after this, though, the relationship between Valikorlian and Elrevâl remained tenuous.
The Rediscovery of Alkor
The ties that the Ascans had with their ancient birthplace of Alkor had been all but severed by the time the island was suddenly rediscovered by men. Upon the island were found another of the old elf cousins of the Elrevail and the Alkorians: the Seánchanni. The Seánchanni were primitive and wild, much like the Elrevail had been when they had first set off in search of a new forest home upon the dark shores of Kharlia. The wood elves took to trying to teach their lesser elf cousins the customs of their society, and soon the Seánchanni became accepted by the peoples of Kharlia as another of the many elven races. The Ascans called their new cousins 'Nornaldín', which means 'those of the island,' but as per their wary attitude toward strangers, remained unwelcoming to them.
