Cahfei's Repent

After the train broke down in the tunnel, and the people inside got out to investigate, they found a room full of Cahfei's written logs about his current situation.

Apparently, to birth a new plague that would finally oust and destroy humanity forever, Cahfei gave up his body and soul to be shared with the remains of the last Plague lord from the Abyssal War II. Mysteriously, Cahfei left the cause and disappeared for several months at the peak of the plague. It had now been revealed that Cahfei's body was slowly becoming the true plague beast, and that he would not have much time left in the world should he not be able to reverse his state to his previous form.

Within another log, it was unveiled where Cahfei had hid his Phylactery. Apparently, when Cahfei made the first forgewrought, he stuck his phylactery within one of their chests, and sealed it up to look like an integral component. He then purposely abused the living construct so that it would rebel against him and join with the humans. This forgewrought turned out to be none other than Vergoth, who had then become a High Ordinator in Celdin.

Nearby, the heroes found an arcane device filled with the true bones of Cahfei Silkstring. It blipped and pointed several directions, pointing the way towards the missing pieces. A servant of Cahfeis relayed the information, as well, that should Cahfei's phylactery be destroyed, his soul will become unbound and travel to the best applicable place to store it. Should his original body be in a suitable enough condition, it would return into it, freeing Cahfei from his prison.

Cahfei wrote that he was 'going home' in his final log. The heroes realized that Cahfei no longer had any home in this current world, as it was once within Soleya. Therefore, he had been heading to the holding place of his most prized possession: His hat, which lay atop a makeshift grave hidden deep within Kenderville.

The arcane device pointed the adventurers to Laboo, where they found a mage who had collected both of Cahfei's hands. Then, when the only piece they required was Cahfei's skull, Vergoth leapt out from a tree and broke open the machine. The bones scattered the ground, and, after a confrontation and short fight, Vergoth tore out his chest with his own battlefist, removing his father’s accursed soul. He dashed the phylactery across the ground, heaved up Cahfei's bones, and ran off towards Kenderville, losing his pursuers.

Cahfei’s bones animated from the warmth emanating from the phylactery, and cast a spell to arise some dust into his form. He spoke his woes unto the heroes, asking them grant him some final rest after years of sin.

Vergoth arrived at the grave, and found the plague beast that had become of Cahfei. There is a major battle, ending with a hole blown through Vergoths chest and out his back.

Vergoth lay inert after the battle with Cahfei's nearly finished form just as the Heroes arrived after following the trail of his broken parts. The plague beast bellowed out his arrival once more into the human world, and then entered combat.

Walls tore open, and paths were unveiled as the heroes and the plague beast warred into the deeper halls of the newly discovered tomb hidden behind the makeshift grave Tindertot Rastleknot built for Cahfei when he originally died.

A rune was erased from the ground using lemon juice from Tindertot's Destined Lemon, an artifact he found in his adventures in Meridiem. The plague beast’s body waned, and the warriors drove him back into the furthest halls. There, they uncovered Cahfei's skull, and dashed it into the machine. The light sprang on, as if awaiting one last step...

The phylactery was thrown upon the floor, and shattered on contact with the hard stone tiles. Cahfei's soul evacuated the body, arriving in his original corpse... The plague beast was destroyed, and screamed out in tears.

Cahfei understood, then. His deeds and humanity's failure to save his mortal body: Humanity was something he hadn't lost. By bringing himself into undeath, he could have continued on has he always had, perhaps even to a more noble end.

Cahfei's tomb was consecrated, and his soul purified. He passed on from the world after granting the heroes their just rewards.
