The Families subcategory is an alternative means of organising characters; it allows people to view how the various families of Valikorlia exist and interact, as well as which characters existed within these families. Furthermore, each family's subcategory page gives an explanation of the origin, lineage, and importance of that family. While there are no hard rules about which families merit their own category, generally speaking a family must have had several (four or five) characters played by different people.

For instance, a good example of how the family system could be of use might be in examining inter-marriage. If you wanted to see how the Melvar family (the royal line in Empyria for a long time) married, for example, you could look at how characters in that family had married into / out of the line, and which characters belonged to the Melvar family as well as others.
