History
Childhood
Not much is known about the childhood of the General of Celdin. All thats known is that he had a brother that he grew up with, John Kalendin, and that they were constantly fighting - sometimes with hammers, which are both of their weapons-of-choice.
Celdin
Charles and John had both enrolled in the Celdin military. John became a squire and Charles rose to the rank of drill sargeant before he took a long break after his brother John's death. He was reputed for being very, very tough on his recruits.
Charles then received a letter some months later. The letter said that Charles Kalendin was now appointed the General of Celdin (Even though the nation was already led by a king and had a general and was going by Valikorlia at the time). He took the failure of the mail system as a divine sign (Even though he isn't devout) and started his crusade of fixing Greendale to its previous stature. In doing so, he re-formed Celdin and had his headquarters in his home, which was converted to his office.
It soon became obvious to him that the current king would have to go. He organized a resistance with Ebra Conaway, the commander at the time, and Richard Xanthica to overthrow the current king. Dax Issanni and River Delphinus were also in on the scheme and they both aided Charles in his efforts.
Finally, the day came when Charles Kalendin marched up to the threshold of the castle and demanded it be handed over to him. Using his ten catapaults and five ballistas, he disabled the castle's siege weaponry. The men in the castle then skirmished with Charles', in which time Charles, Dax and River ran into the castle and combated Teizo Marix and Sornlitz who were there. They were victorious and the king surrendered; Charles had won. However, it came at a cost; after handing on the spear of light to Charles, Dax Issanni passed away.
Charles formed a council then; he gave Fort Celdin, his training fort, to Ebra Conaway. River was to be his representative in the Ignis Fatuus and Richard Xanthica his ambassador to other nations.
After that, Greendale and Celdin were plagued by orc attacks; Charles ousted the orcs with the aid of his infamous ballistas, setting fire to their encampment in West Forest after they had taken hostages. Not too long after this, he resigned and left the job of leading Celdin to River Delphinus, who did well for a time, then handed it off to Cedric Alber. Charles now serves under Cedric as his Field Marshal, but - in light of the recent attacks by Abyssal demons - he has had to use Roland's Spear on occassion.
