Archery: Edward took a class in his home country of Celdin, in the way of the bow. He has a small mastery over this type of ranged weapon.
Alchemy: Ed studied at an alchemy school, and after graduating, and over time, researched on his own and is now a High Alchemist.
Alchemy
Edward is an Alchemist.
- Goblin's Ink: Ink that when written on paper and allowed to dry becomes unsmearable.
- Vine Oil: Numbs the body to pain for an hour.
- Alchemist's Mercy: A potion for curing hangovers.
- Dreamer's Drink: A sleeping potion. Length of sleep depends on amount of potion used. Must be consumed.
- Minor Healing Potion: Heal small cuts. Must be applied to wound
- Paralyzing Potion: Renders limbs useless for up to an hour. Must be consumed.
- Medium Healing Potion: Heals deep cuts. Must be applied to wound.
- Minor Cure-All: Cures small ailments, ranging from minor sicknesses to small-snake-bite like poisons. Must be either applied to wound or consumed.
- Side Effect: Causes one to have a headache.
- Boost Shot: Similar to Morphine and Adrenaline shots. Kills pain, while giving an extra boost to the senses. Must be consumed. Nicknamed the Adrenaline Cocktail
- Goblin's Oil: A lamp oil that, once lit, cannot be easily doused by water.
- Night Vision: Potion enhances one's eyesight in the dark. Effects last for up to an hour. Must be consumed.
- Side Effect: After consuming the potion for the next hour, one has an extreme sensitivity to light.
- Feigning Death: A potion that, when consumed, makes the drinker appear to have died, discoloring the skin and slowing the heart rate. Will lose effect after 24 hours, or if a cure is used.
- Side Effect: It takes 48 hours to flush this potion from your body. If another dose is taken within this time period, it is the same as an overdose, and you die.
- Medium Healing Potion: Heals slightly larger cuts. Must be applied to wound, or consumed.
- Major Healing Potion: Heals deep cuts (not like a cut going from left of torso to right...not quite that big). Must be applied to wound and consumed to have an effect. It will, however, leave a scar.
- Major Cure-All: Cures larger ailments, ranging from minor diseases to large or some weak, but deadly, poisons/venoms. Must be either applied to wound or consumed.
- Side Effect 1: Causes one to have a headache.
- Side Effect 2: If it is taken as an anti-venom, it causes you to puke.
- Blood-Clog: Stops most wounds from bleeding by speeding up the natural clotting. Must be consumed.
- Side Effect: Burns like hell.
Experimental Alchemy
- None
Personality
Edward prefers to be called Ed instead. He is a kind man, though his appearance causes others to think differently. Despite his alignment, he sometimes acts as a field medic for Dalmar during battles. His bedside manner, however, is terrible.
Equipment
Bow and arrow: Edward's primary weapon. A bow and arrow that he doesn't really use much anymore. He relies on alchemy to battle, and running fast to escape battle.
Pestle and Mortar: Ed's pestle and mortar that he uses to make potions with.
Backpack: Ed's backpack in which he keeps his Pestle and Mortar, ingredients for alchemical creations, and his books and notes.
Archangel: A modified boltwinder, given to him by Gabriel Vander, that replaces his bow.
Flask of Infinite Water: Flask given to him as payment by Galileo Sierhiet, which Ed always keeps on his person.
History
Youth
Ed was found by a human couple one day in the woods. He had apparently been left there to die, given his unnatural dark hair and skin color for an elf. They took him in and brought him up as their own child.
Growing up in the nation of Celdin Ed had a decent education. He left school to study the ways of the bow and arrow. When he graduated from there he went to study at an Alchemy school and became an Apprentice Alchemist.
Research
When the war between Dalmar and Valikorlia broke out, he fled Greendale. He had not liked the dictator-esq way the nation was run. He thought he might have been forced to research for them, and fled to Laboo. After Valikorlia's counter-attack on Lucca, Dart Eriseiken, the man whom he was looking after a house for, and a friend, found him in Laboo. Eriseiken had told the Emperor about Ed's alchemy, and the Emperor summoned him. After a chat, Ed was made a Researcher for Imperial Dalmar, and taken to the Labs.
The Divide
At the time of the Divide, Edward was on the mainland of Valikorlia, both collecting materials to take back to the labs, and acting as a field medic for Dalmar with his potions. Because of this, he averted the destruction, and then moved on to selling his potions as a living, as a traveling salesman, until one day when he met up with Gabriel Vander...
Joining the Guild
When he met Gabriel one day, he heard talk of an Engineer's Guild, and how they were even looking for alchemists, so without much haste, Ed joined up. Since then, he's become like a lawyer to the Guild, even negotiating for, and representing the Guild. He has moved up quickly to a top spot. He is one of the few people to see to join the guild, and he has even begun bartending at the Inn where the Guild is temporarily stationed.
Loss of the Guild and Moving on
The Engineer's Guild fell one day when Vander and Ed were in Durandal acquiring parts for a crane when they were wrongfully accused of stealing said parts. After a discussion with the Forgelord, the contract between Durandal and the Guild was revoked and the Engineer's Guild fell apart soon after, as their airship was taken back and funding was pulled, they hadn't yet had time to get a foothold enough to survive on their own. After the Guild fell, Ed went about wandering from place-to-place selling his potions once more. When finally he had enough money saved up, Ed bought a plot of land Northwest of Greendale, and began to build a house.
Upon completion of the house, Ed moved in with his new wife, and after getting settled in he began to sell his potions from the first floor of his house, and after a few requests, eventually began to sell some liquor as well.
