History

Chapter 1: The beginning, love at second visit

Wave after wave, drop after drop, of water from the sea and rain from the sky battered the Island of Alkor. It was known that this was most likely the ruining of the Elven civilizations and the sinking of the isle of Alkor, their home. Regardless, the Elves set sail in the stormy weather inattempt to escape the tormenting typhoon, but lets retrace our steps a month prior. It was mid-day on the isle of Alkor. The sun was shining brightly on the coast and the sands were warm. Andune, a beautiful fair-skinned elf, was enjoying the marvelous weather. Neither, her nor any other resident of the island could have known their impending fate and that it would be the last day of such splendor for sometime. Shifting her feet through the sand, gazing at the ocean, she was completely oblivious of Aerandir. Aerandir was a boyish elf entirely infatuated with Andune. Furthermore, Aerandir and Andune had always caught glimpses of each other from a far, but it wasn't until recently that they had spoken. "Hello." Aerandir said in an alluring elven tongue, sneaking up on Andune. She jumped, surprised, but immediately recognized the voice. "Oh, Hello Aerandir," she spoke in the same elven language as she turned to greet him. The sun relfected off Aerandir's deep blue eyes. Sweeping back his dark brown hair, out of his face and behind his ear, he replied, "What are you up to?" Aerandir kneeled down to Andune's level looking to her shifting feet. For a moment all was frozen except the sounds of the ocean and Andune's slender toes in the sand. Aerandir's eyes moved to her toes, but Andune remained focused on his face, she had seen or felt something more, for no apparent reason, was it love at second visit? Andune and Aerandir spent the rest of the evening on the beach, enjoying each other's presence, and becoming something more than friends. It would be these moments that would keep them going, give them a reason to endure the hardships of the next month. The possibility that there could be something substantial between these two young elves.

Chapter 2: Distress, dispair, and desperation

The next day started with a drizzle, it wasn't out of the ordinary. There had been rain before, so nobody was alarmed. Andune and Aerandir spent the day apart and under the tree-tops, attempting to stay dry. On the second day of rainfall, Andune's desire to be with Aerandir became increasingly noticeable. She paced relentlessly back and forth at the edge of the tree-tops constantly forebode by her mother Failariel, "Don't you go out in the rain, missy." she repeated and Andune always responded with a piercing glance and a dissatisfied grunt. It was no surprise that on the other side of the thicket Aerandir was having the same engagements with his father. "Why can't I go out in the rain?" Aerandir defiantly asked. "Because I said so.." His father quickly replied and Aerandir stomped across the heavily traveled dirt path to the trunk of the tree, plopping down as aggressively as possible. "Look I think it is lightening up, can I go out now?" both Aerandir and Andune tried to convince their parents with no success. For atleast a week this continued before Aerandir gathered the courage to disobey is father, constantly telling himself, "Better to ask forgiveness than permission." as he approach the cluster of trees where Andune's family resided. By now the constant rain fall had caused some flooding and the particular thicket in which Aerandir and Andune's clans resided was on high-ground and becoming increasingly populated. Pushing his way throught the small crowds of the 'refugees' you could say, Aerandir approached Andune. she was oblivious of him. Just like their previous encounter a week prior Aerandir said "Hello." and was greeted with a surprised jump, a startled glance and some unsure words, "Hi?" Andune responded, turning to face him. Andune hadn't expected Aerandir to come to her homely cluster of trees in a billion years, but she was happy he did and showed it with a weak smile. "Didn't think I'd come look for you?" Andune smiled, embarrassed, and her cheeks brightend. "Not in this weather," she tried to sound disapproving. "I don't think it is ever going to lighten up." Aerandir stated. He didn't know just how close to being right he was. "And I don't think I can wait forever." and with that said Andune's disapproving attitude turned into a crooked smile. Trying to hide her excitement she bit her lip, making it even more obvious. Aerandir returned with a smile of his own. Both Andune and Aerandir continued to disobey and decieve their parents, just to see each other. This carried on for the next week, as worry grew of the swelling rivers, streams, and sea. Many elvens began to construct house-rafts, floating homes of sorts, others just reassured themselves by saying, "It will stop soon." and other a-like phrases. Their denial wouldn't save them from a watery grave. Andune and Aerandir where lucky enough to stow away on another elf's raft, but all they had was each other as there families sunk along with the island.

Chapter 3: Survival

Andune and Aerandir had stowed away upon a house-raft of an elf named Miriel. Miriel was an old, lonely elf who largely kept to himself and it wasn't long before he had discovered Andune and Aerandir on his ship, hidden among some barrels of supplies. "What in thy gods' name are you doing on my ship?" Andune and Aerandir looked toward the roughly constructed deck of the craft, ashamed. "Do you realize I haven't enough supplies to feed the three of us?" Miriel continued. "Sir." Aerandir said still looking downward. "Sir what?!" Miriel said frustrated. "We had no where else to go" Andune plead. A lone, unnoticable tear in the rain, made its way down her face. After some harsh words from Miriel and cries for forgiveness from Andune and Aerandir, they had an agreement. Miriel had constructed some fishing tools, calculating the possibility of running out of supplies. Andune and Aerandir could remain on the ship, but they had to catch their own meals. At first it was hard, they ate whatever they could get their hands on. Bird, fish, insects there was no limits to what they wouldn't eat and the weeks of battering waves and rainfall weathered their spirits. Every once and awhile Miriel would find himself in a generous mood and shared what little he had with the almost starving Andune and Aerandir.

Chapter 4: Love, Life, and Land

Enduring a few months of aimless travel over the seas and surviving only on fish, birds, and whatever they could get their hands on they reached land, they docked on the beaches of the Valikorlian Empire. The three elves rushed onto the sand. They didn't care where they were. All that mattered was that they were some where. Some where Andune and Aerandir could start a life. Andune and Aerandir did just that, start a new life. All the loss and hardships they experienced only brought them closer and it was no surprise that a few years later, after rebuilding their strength, their relationship, and their home(s), (Homes because they were nomadic between forested areas among the Valikorlian Empire) they had a child of their own. A girl, with bright green eyes and light brown hair, named Elena Swifbolt.

Chapter 5: Elena's Childhood

Andune and Aerandir raised Elena in the the forests of the Valikorlian Empire, living a nomadic lifestyle to ensure their impact upon the environment was minimal. Elena embraced these beliefs implementing them in her own life, but it wouldn't hold her back when she decided to leave the forests and aim for the skies. At age 19 Elena left her home and traveled to the Ignis Shard in desperation. Now, living on the Shard she is the Apprentice of Caedril Rossil himself and believes if she can achieve all her magical potiential she can help the environment and return Kharlia to balance. The balance between man and nature is a never-ending battle.
