Personality
Elros is a cunning thief, silver-tongued liar, master of disguise, merciless assassin, dexterous burglar, deft pickpocket, and a lord and connoisseur of crime, all housed within one half-elven entity that is Elros Ianven.
Although Elros is a well-known conductor of illegality, he has always been an incurable braggart, particularly when inebriated or with a woman (or both). It's this habit that's earned him many brushes with the law, but to this day he has made no effort to change.
Beyond that, Elros has been known to adopt many identities, each with a different vernacular and personality. Close friends will (never) claim that at his core, the half-elf is a rough-around-the-edges curse-spewing brute, more human than he is elven.
Skills
Elros' ascent (or descent?) into crime lordship was a long and vague road, demanding many things of the half-elf. Thusly, he's equipped with a myriad of obscure skills -- although, adhering to his secretive nature, he'll never reveal everything he's capable of.
- An endlessly-honed rogue's spirit grants him a bevy of capabilities, including (but not limited to) picking locks, pickpocketing, and stealth.
- Elros is trained in basic first aid, should his line of work ever demand it.
- One of Elros' most profitable identities is a grunt worker, and thusly he commands intermediate knowledge regarding construction and carpentry.
- Elros is truest to his elven heritage in his marksmanship; he is inhumanly graceful and accurate with any kind of handheld firearm, such as a boltwinder or flintlock.
- Elros is a diabolically good liar. Tall rumor has it that he's effortlessly hoodwinked telepaths before.
- As part of the assassin experience, Elros knows just where to stab or shoot a man so that a blow is nonlethal (or otherwise...)
History
Lying about it to so many different people, Elros will lightheartedly claim that he himself doesn't remember his own past...
...This, of course, is a bold-faced lie. Elros was born an orphan, being the product of a sordid alleyway rape. His mother, an elf Elros never knew, gave him to a Kharlian orphanage when he was a newborn, giving the proprietor nothing but a scrap of paper with an apology written on it, begging that he give it to Elros when he came of age.
Since childhood, Elros had been integrated in local crime circuits, doing grunt work and fixing drinks for stipends of cash. In this, another morbid detail is pegged in Elros' history; since before he was in double digit ages, Elros has been, and always will be, an alcoholic. Those around him claim it will eventually be the death of him, but he denies he has a problem at all.
Elros fled the orphanage at age seventeen, still considered infantile by elven standards, while a fully grown man by his humanized crime family associates' standards. In doing so, he never received the piece of paper identifying his mother, as the orphanage burned down mere months after he left. Unbeknownst to Elros, he worked very closely with his father, a career criminal and syndicate lieutenant. The ever ambitious half-elf never stayed in one circumstance for long, and within months his father was added to the list of casualties, murdered by Elros so that he himself might ascend.
Rise And Fall
" I bet you say that to all the girls..."
" Yeah, I do. "
Elros unscrupulously rose to lordship, leaving a calculated trail of thievery, murder and betrayal in his thunderous wake. He reigned for decades as the uniting and undisputed king of crime, having a hand in every criminal operation for hundreds of miles. Indulging himself in his favorite sport - bedding nobles' wives to ease the thievery of their husbands' money - Elros remained busy for quite some time. Yet, in his cushy new life, he got comfortable and lazy, betraying the very staples of his person. Almost karmically, his punishment came instantly. He was overthrown and nearly killed, but the sobering awakening 'reactivated' many of the half-elf's dormant skills and instincts. He hid himself in the shadows for ages, becoming a simple contract hitman under a new alias to survive. He could do nothing but solemnly recall the comforts of his old life, until...
Anew
" What about a brewery? "
Dealing in a back alley, Elros encountered a burly burglar by the name of Leonan Droverson, with whom he quickly became friends and partners. With Leonan's front contacts and Elros' capability, the two developed their own circuit of crime, and Elros once again ascended to wealth and recognition. One of Elros' first orders of business was to "purchase" the Dragon's Belly Inn from the missing owner -- he broke into the abandoned building, forged documents, and reopened the famous lodge for the first time in years. It served as a temporary headquarters for he and Leonan's syndicate.
Business boomed, and with the profits, Leonan and Elros opened a brewery -- no ordinary brewery, for in the basement lies an alchemical station in which Elros pays herbalists to develop poisons. Further still through the cellar leads to a tunnel going to a large clearing in the inn's surrounding forest where various addictive medicaments and hypnotics are grown and processed.
The Unseen
" The king reigns again. "
After snowballing success with their syndicate, Elros did something unprecedented -- he called a meeting of like-minded crime groups, and merged into one entity, under the banner of the aptly chosen moniker 'The Unseen'. Leonan fell into a shamefully low rank in the newly formed group, whereas Elros maintained a rank on the ruling council of assassins. However high a position it might have been, Elros was not content. In a manner of months he had once again manipulated his way to the top, engineering a "leader" rank, and sat as Underlord of the group. Since, the Unseen has undergone several evolutions, and to this day remains, under Elros, true to it's namesake - unseen.
Today...?
Elros has been missing for weeks. Last anyone knew, he had departed to take on a high-profile killing contract.
