Is a mid-longterm player who is the creator and webmaster of ValWiki, and is currently a GP. Previously, Stragen has been an RP Admin and general Administrator (responsible for concepts and story development) for a sizeable period of time, as well as holding various positions such as FAQ Chief, FAQ, and RP Assistant.

He has a particular fondness for RPs involving political intrigue as well as general social interaction, and does not particularly enjoy combat-based roleplaying. Indeed, many of his characters tend to favour wits above brawn.

Living Characters

Unlike many players (Dylan for example), Stragen does not have all that many characters, but instead tends to focus on one or two at a time. Currently, his (living) characters are:

  • Abijah Uwainor: A Fallen who joined Altima out of necessity long after her initial betrayal of Setengar, Abijah's long, painful life has left him emotionally distorted. Abijah has lost much of the personal kindness he had as a Seraphim, but has retained a keen appreciation of romance and the value of personal loyalty. While not much is known about Abijah, he is said to be an expert mage, and rumours suggest he may be using his talents to covertly assist the demonic army from the surface.
  • Bremen von Rothschild: Bremen von Rothschild, the nephew of Brunswich von Rothschild and great-grandson of Cologne von Rothschild, is a notable scholar in International Relations and the Foreign Affairs Minister of Imperial Dalmar. His most prominent works include On the Primacy of States, an essay arguing for the state as the most important force in the international sphere.
  • Owernis Lelant: A former Valikorlian Knight of Empyrian stock, Owernis Lelant is a nice fellow who endeavours to protect those around him. Owernis' actions, while almost always well-intentioned, are sometimes clouded by internal struggles. In particular, he is haunted by his inability to effectively maintain an organisation dedicated to protecting the local area, and plagued by the uncertainty of his relationship with Rosalind du Courte.

Inactive characters

Deceased Characters

This list is incomplete, and is written from memory.

  • Alsinnar: A highly disturbed necromancer (previously the apprentice of Tsarias Mortavos) who lacks good communication skills; while he has committed some evil acts (such as the kidnapping and use of suggestion on Shival Felwind), Alsinnar was attempting to correct some of his past misdeeds. Furthermore, he had a personal desire to demonstrate that while most necromancers may be evil, necromancy is not in itself an inherently evil craft.
  • Stragen Meldaire-Melvar: A member of the Empyrian royal family by virtue of his loving marriage to Sasha Melvar-Meldaire, Stragen was a longterm advisor to both King Nessaden and King Jesse, and one of the foremost diplomats of his age, displaying particular tact during the Taronian War.
  • Taklinn Balderk: Stragen's first ever character, Taklinn Balderk was a dwarven lawyer whose most prominent case was as defence for the accused in the Valikorlia Town serial killings of mid-2002. Taklinn won the case.

My Pages

While this may not catch on, I'm testing the idea here of allowing users to use their userpages to showcase a few of the pages made largely (but preferably entirely) by themselves. Hopefully, the ability to give examples of one's work might encourage more users to contribute to the wiki more frequently.

In my case specifically, much of the work I do on the wiki is on organisation (such as of categories, help pages, and editing), but the few examples of larger content-based pages that are shown here are, as far as I am concerned, pages that I can be proud of having made.

  • Abijahn: While not strictly complete, a lot of work has gone into this race. While some of the mechanics and abilties of the Abijahn are borrowed and inspired by other works, the backstory is entirely original, and it is this that I am particularly proud of.
  • Abijah Uwainor: I really think that the character I have created here is a truly fascinating one. It ties in with the page above significantly, because the original backstory / concept involved is essentially the same. In any case, I like this page too.
  • Dearuhk: While some information was available, Dearuhk is (or was) one of the most underdeveloped gods in Valikorlia. In the article, I tried to develop several new ideas and flesh out what was already there. While not my longest by a long way, it is probably the page which I am most happy with.
