Vortex Flask
Powers
The Vortex Flask, or more commonly known as 'The Flask of The Tide' is a rather simple trinket, with few uses aside from the mundane. It is a small metal container with a magical enchantment cast upon it, which makes it so that the water within the flask can never run dry, and is always full to the brim with cool, fresh water.
Back Story
The Flask first came about several generations ago, during the peek of the Empyrian rule over the vast seas. During a trade mission between Empyria and the Valikorlian empire, a merchant ship was forced to run itself ashore during a very brutal storm, in order to stop itself from being cap-sized by the massive waves.
The Captain of the vessel assumed the storm would run it's course in a few days time, and a ship would soon be dispatched to rescue them from their plight. Little did they realize the vastness of the storm, and it encircled them for two weeks, killing men as colossal waves crushed the hull slowly, and sent men into the sea where they would soon drown.
Soon only a single man remained, a novice mage who had booked passage on the ship. Most of the supplies had been cast to the sea, and the young mages throat was parched, seeing as all of the fresh water on board had been swept away. Catching a few droplets of water in the opening of his flask, he then went about focusing his magical energies onto the item. And thus, the Vortex Flask was created. Made to never run dry of fresh, clean water.
How Arken Claimed It
During the brutal flood which took place during the second Abyssal War, Arken Rennatta, was forced to take up shelter with an Empyrian boat which was cast to the waves like so many other people. During a particularly violent evening, the boat was cast about side to side, and men and cargo alike were cast down into the waters below.
Arken, having watched a pair of men being tossed into the waters below, dove after them in a frantic effort to save their lives. He grabbe the two men by the waist, one of them having been knocked out during the fall, and helped to keep them afloat until the crew that remained on the deck could throw a rope to them.
After drying themselves and taking a moment to recover from the drama, one of the men held out a small Flask to Arken, and explained it's magical properties. The man had been a sailor all his life, and the heirloom had been handed down to him by his father, and his father before him. he thought it a fitting reward for someone who had just saved his life.
